Defend Prop C Funds—endorse the pledge!
Support the ask of our elected Board of Supervisors to pledge to keep Babies and Families First whole in the gross receipts negotiations. Your endorsement of our pledge request will show our community strength, ensure the negotiations secure not one penny less for the Babies and Families First fund, and that the negotiation agreement honors what San Francisco voters already passed.

We are working in unity with Prop C for Our City Our Home as well as unions and community members to secure the best outcome for our San Francisco community in these negotiations.
Why is your endorsement needed?
In June 2018 San Francisco passed Babies and Families First with 51% support, but access to funds is currently held up in a lawsuit by Howard Jarvis Tax Payers Association, et. al. Babies and Families First is a progressive tax on rental receipts of commercial properties, with exemptions including small businesses, nonprofits and small retailers, and is projected to raise an estimated $150 million, $120 million targeted to expand early care and education services and raise compensation of ECE educators.
The court process may take years. Meanwhile our youngest are going without services, and early educators and families are leaving the city as the promise of Babies and Families First challenged by large business associations.
An opportunity through SF Gross Receipts
San Francisco government and businesses have interest in restructuring the gross receipts tax. Negotiations are moving forward for a possible measure on the November 2020 ballot. This restructure offers an opportunity to return to the ballot to raise additional funds for San Francisco that can be used for our youngest children and those who care for them—as well as other community needs—when you join us to show the strength and unity of our community.
Thanks for your endorsement to keep Babies and Families first whole!
