SUMMARY:Week of the Young Child 2023!
DESCRIPTION:ECESF has previously organized the Walk Around the Block during the Week of the Young Child to ensure our elected leaders’ attention is on ECE providers. This spring we’re working as part of the SF ECE Coalition to bring San Francisco’s supervisors to your site. We invite you to join with other ECE sites to ensure our elected leaders know the current state of Early Care & Education since the pandemic and the rollout of Prop C! \nWhat’s the plan for site visits? \nThe SF ECE community invites district supervisors to come see what we do. This is an opportunity to highlight the beneficial impacts of increased funds to the SF ECE system (Prop C)—as well as the work still to be done\, including improvements to workplace conditions\, professional and education pathways\, and other things your site is experiencing including impacts of COVID and the TK/UPK rollout. We’re looking to visit two sites (targeting one center and one Family Child Care site) in each of San Francisco’s 11 districts—a total of at least 22 sites over a two- to three-week period around the Week of the Young Child (this year April 2-8). We may involve more sites if we have a “special” tour for the Mayor and/or state-elected leaders. \nLet us know your interest in having your site visited by emailing info@ecesf.org. Please include the SF district of your site(s) and/or your site address.

SUMMARY:SF ECE Advocacy Coalition Meetings
DESCRIPTION:The SF ECE Advocacy Coalition meets twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month\, from  4 – 5 pm.\nECESF led the passage of Prop C (2018) as well as the early release of funds blocked by the lawsuit through the successful passage of Prop F (2020). To strengthen our work\, we worked in coalition with partners\, including Parent Voices\, R&Rs\, and other individual and organizational community members. Once Prop C passed we led CPAC/OECE AdHoc committees to engage the community in planning the use of funds. From the planning work it was clear\, while an estimated $120M annually was a fantastic victory\, for our vision of an ECE for All that addresses equity needs and supports a stable workforce\, these funds were not adequate. \nECESF and Children’s Council committed to ongoing work to maintain a coalition bringing ECESF educators together with families\, engaged agencies\, and community members to build campaigns to win ECE for All. The SF ECE Advocacy Coalition was born out of that process\, with ECESF as a primary leader focused on bringing ECE educators to the coalition table. \nTo receive calendar invites and Zoom links for all SF ECE Advocacy Coalition meetings\, please contact: Sara Hicks-Kilday\, sara@ecesf.org \n  \n
