Event Navigation
This film features vignettes of anti-bias strategies in early childhood classrooms interspersed with teachers reflecting on their practice. The film shifts the focus away from the talking heads of experts and on to the voices of teachers committed to equity on a daily basis. By taking viewers into diverse early childhood classrooms, the film seeks to demonstrate the importance of teacher reflection on identity, context, and practice in anti-bias education.
The screening will be followed by a conversation facilitated by creator Debbie LeeKeenan with Pacific Primary Executive Director Belann Giarretto, Director Madonna Stancil and two teachers featured in the film, Nadia Jaboneta and Brian Silveira. Nadia and Brian have been collaborating for 13 years and sharing their journey of social justice teaching with Early Childhood Educators all around North America. Nadia is the author of two books, ” Children’s Lively Minds: Schema Theory Made Visible” with Deb Curtis and “You Can’t Celebrate That: Navigating the Deep Waters of Social Justice Teaching.”
