Suzy Yu

Co-Chair

Suzy Yu is an Educator for Wonder Years School where she is currently working with older toddlers. She has worked with newborn to children of 5-9 years old. An early childhood educator since 1988 when she graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, she earned her Associate’s Degree in 1996 in the field of ECE from City College of San Francisco, and her Bachelor’s Degree in 2010 in La Raza Studies with a focus in child care from San Francisco State University. Her various job titles in her 28 years in the ECE field have spanned from aide, to associate teacher, to teacher, to mentor teacher, to site supervisor.

 

Suzy has been an active member of ECESF since 2002 and joined the board in 2013, was a founding member when ECESF obtained its non-profit status in 2015, and served till her board position termed-out in 2024. Committed to uplifting the voices of early care educators, Suzy reapplied and was elected to the ECESF board in 2025.

She was a mentor teacher for the CA ECE Mentor Program from 2007 to 2013 and served on the selection committee for the Mentor Program from 2013 to 2019. She strongly believes that children learn best through play and interaction guided by skilled early care educators, and the only way for that to happen is to support the teachers in the classroom setting.
