Through summer and fall ECESF community gatherings educators focused on priority issues that they faced in their workplaces that would most improve both their work conditions and the quality of the early care and education they provide. The issues raised showed how clearly these two areas, quality workplaces and quality work, are inseparable. A key aspect of quality work is knowing that your judgment of what works effectively will determine how something is done. And a key aspect of quality services is having those who do the work bring their observations and expertise of what is most effective into deciding how things should be done. How can we most effectively make the structures at our ECE workplaces provide the reflective time, communication, team building, and other components necessary to support teacher-agency?
