Women's History of Caregiving

In honor of Women’s Equal Pay Day 2021, ECESF presented an evening with Max Dashu to discuss women’s caregiving history from an international perspective. Max Dashu draws on her 50 years of research on this subject in a richly expanded visual presentation that explores the role of elders and teachers through storytelling and songs. She shares societies where women’s responsibilities are given more than lip service, so that those who actually do this crucial work are accorded authority and decision-making power because of it. Her work highlights indigenous women overlooked by standard histories and highlights female spheres of power retained even in some patriarchal societies. Watch the recording below!
